Opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) stalwart and outgoing Mawokota South Member of Parliament, Hon. Yusuf Nsibambi, has officially crossed to the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).

Nsibambi was formally received into the NRM by the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Anita Among, alongside the party’s Secretary General, Richard Todwong.

The veteran legislator, who has been associated with the Forum for Democratic Change, confirmed that he will return his FDC party card as part of the transition.

Speaking at the event, Nsibambi said his decision to join the National Resistance Movement was driven by what he described as “the struggle for peace,” signaling a shift in his political alignment ahead of the next electoral cycle.

His defection marks another notable political realignment within Uganda’s multiparty landscape, as parties position themselves ahead of the 2026 general elections.
