Rotary Club of Lungujja Conducts Dual Medical Camps in Sanga and Kibumbiro Communities

On June 8, 2024, the Rotary Club of Lungujja successfully supported two simultaneous medical camps in the Sanga and Kibumbiro communities, providing essential health services to the local populations. The camps reached a total of 504 people in Sanga and 277 people in Kibumbiro.

These events began with a comprehensive community cleaning exercise, where students and locals collaborated to sweep roads and clear clogged trenches, significantly enhancing the sanitary conditions of the areas.

Kibumbiro Medical Camp

The Kibumbiro camp was a collaborative effort with stakeholders such as the leadership of St. Luke Church of Uganda, Mengo Hospital, Rubaga Hospital, local schools, Kampala City Council Authority, local leadership, and the community.

The event began with a community cleaning exercise and proceeded to offer various free health services, including:

  • Blood donation
  • Diabetes testing
  • Hypertension testing
  • HIV testing and counseling
  • General treatment

Sanga Medical Camp

In Sanga, the Rotary Club of Lungujja worked in collaboration with the Rotary Clubs of Matuga and Kisasi-Kyanja, Mengo Hospital, Church of Uganda Kunnggu Parish, local leadership, and the community. Health services provided included:

  • Eye care
  • Dental care
  • Blood donation
  • Cervical cancer testing
  • Prostate cancer testing
  • HIV testing and counseling
  • General treatment and referrals

Impact and Recognition

The active involvement and contributions of the Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Lungujja were highly appreciated and recognized by the communities.

These activities aligned with the Rotary theme of “Creating Hope in the World,” instilling hope and improving health outcomes for the people in these communities.

The clubs promised to engage communities with the same activities.
