VIDEO: Uganda’s Davis tells Putin, “I want to be your son,” watch the Russian President’s response

A Ugandan youth, Davis Akampurira on Wednesday told Russian President Vladimir Putin during the World Youth Festival (WYF) that he would like to become his son. 

“I would so much like to become your son from Africa. Because you were my mentor, Mr. President,” Davis explained his desire.

In response, the Russian leader said, “Well, what can I tell you, my son…” drawing cheers from the crowd.

Putin then called Akampurira onto the stage for a photo op. 

The audience at the closing ceremony applauded Vladimir Putin‘s words that all people are equal from birth, born from a father and a mother and, even despite modern technologies, there is no other way. The audience chanted “Russia”.

He added that the success of the World Youth Festival demonstrates that sanctions against Russia have failed. However, the purpose of such events is to build friendship, not to prove someone wrong
