YOU’RE PLAYING WITH FIRE! Gen Museveni Warns Against Youth Protests

President Yoweri Museveni has issued a stern warning to those planning to participate in illegal demonstrations and riots, accusing certain elements, including members of the opposition, of collaborating with foreign actors to incite chaos in the country.

In a televised address on Saturday evening, President Museveni emphasized the government’s readiness to take further measures to maintain order if these actions continue. “You are playing with fire,” he declared, addressing those who intend to demonstrate against corruption on Tuesday.

The President pointed out the organized Anti-Corruption Walk from City Square to Kololo in 2019, led by Col. Edith Nakalema, as an example of how to protest without disrupting city life. He encouraged those wishing to protest against corruption to reach out to Col. Nakalema to coordinate their efforts in a manner that does not disturb the peace.

“You are getting cheap food while people in other parts of the world are starving, and you are here wanting to disturb us?” President Museveni questioned, underscoring his message with a warning against any attempts to destabilize the nation.

This warning comes amid rising tensions and concerns about the impact of demonstrations on public order and safety. The government has made it clear that while peaceful protests are a constitutional right, any form of illegal demonstration will not be tolerated.
