The Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to Uganda, H.E. Fatima Yesenia Fernandez Juarez, on Wednesday paid a courtesy visit to Uganda’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs (International Affairs), Hon. Henry Okello Oryem, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kampala.

The visit comes just months after the formal opening of the Venezuelan Embassy in Kampala in March 2025—a development both sides have described as a major step forward in bilateral relations.

Ambassador Fernandez Juarez expressed gratitude on behalf of the Venezuelan Government for the warm welcome and support extended to her and her delegation by the Government and people of Uganda. She emphasized Venezuela’s keen interest in strengthening diplomatic and economic ties with Uganda, especially in light of Uganda’s growing engagement within the BRICS alliance.

“We deeply value the friendship extended to us, and we see enormous potential in building stronger cooperation with Uganda across various sectors,” she said.

Minister Oryem hailed the establishment of the Venezuelan mission in Uganda as a “milestone moment” that signals deepening trust and collaboration between the two nations. He noted that the Embassy would serve as a vital platform for enhancing commercial diplomacy, cultural exchange, and mutual development.

“We welcome Venezuela’s commitment to our bilateral relationship and look forward to exploring new areas of cooperation,” Oryem remarked.

The Minister also accepted an invitation to visit the newly established Venezuelan Embassy and reiterated Uganda’s readiness to work closely with Venezuela on shared goals in regional and international forums.
