Uganda’s First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Museveni, announced a significant leap forward in Uganda’s sports infrastructure landscape, unveiling a comprehensive plan to revamp key facilities nationwide. Emphasizing the government’s commitment to fostering sporting talent and generating revenue, Minister Museveni highlighted key projects including the redevelopment of Lugogo sports complex and the expansion of the National High Altitude Training Centre in Teryet-Kapchorwa.

The completion of the initial phase of the National High-Altitude Training Centre marks a milestone in Uganda’s sporting journey, providing athletes with world-class training facilities. Minister Museveni lauded the dedication to nurturing talent, with athletes already benefiting from the cutting-edge amenities available.

Under President Museveni’s guidance, efforts were directed towards securing a contractor for the construction of the Hoima City stadium, a crucial undertaking for the nation’s sporting ambitions.

Minister Museveni announced the signing of a contract with M/S Summa, renowned for its transformative work in sports infrastructure globally. With a proven track record spanning countries like Rwanda and Senegal, M/S Summa’s involvement promises to elevate Uganda’s sporting facilities to international standards.

The selection of M/S Summa followed a thorough evaluation process led by the Ministry of Works, validating the company’s capacity to deliver within the specified timeframe. Minister Museveni expressed confidence in Summa’s capabilities, citing their positive reputation and expertise in the field.

These initiatives underscore Uganda’s dedication to sporting excellence and national development. Minister Museveni’s leadership, coupled with strategic investments in sports infrastructure, positions Uganda as a formidable force in the global sports arena, poised to unlock the full potential of its athletes and showcase its prowess on the international stage.
