KAMPALA, UGANDA — Ugandan journalist and media professional Raymond Mujuni has been appointed Senior Policy Adviser at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uganda, marking a major transition from journalism into public policy and diplomacy.

Mujuni, who has built a career around investigative journalism, current affairs and public-interest reporting, will now serve within the ministry responsible for shaping and advancing Uganda’s foreign policy and diplomatic engagements.

His appointment brings to the Foreign Affairs Ministry experience in research, political analysis, strategic communications and public affairs—skills that are increasingly important as Uganda expands its engagement with regional and global partners.

Mujuni has been prominent in Uganda’s media sector, having worked in senior editorial and current-affairs roles and participated in investigative journalism initiatives. His work has covered governance, accountability, politics and other issues affecting Uganda and the wider region.

The move comes at a time when Uganda is pursuing an increasingly active diplomatic agenda, including its engagements within the African Union, East African Community, BRICS and the Non-Aligned Movement, as well as bilateral relations with major global partners.

As Senior Policy Adviser, Mujuni is expected to contribute to policy analysis and advice on matters falling within the ministry’s mandate, while bringing his background in journalism and strategic communication to Uganda’s diplomatic policy environment.

His appointment also highlights the growing movement of experienced media professionals into government, policy and diplomatic roles, where communication, research and analysis are central to shaping public policy and international engagement.

Mujuni’s transition from the newsroom to the Foreign Affairs Ministry adds a new dimension to his professional career and places his policy and analytical experience within Uganda’s diplomatic establishment.
