Ugandan security forces have successfully foiled a series of coordinated attacks launched at dawn today across multiple areas within the Rwenzori West and Rwenzori East police regions, according to a statement from the Uganda Police Force headquarters.

In Rwenzori West, the assailants targeted several locations including the districts of Bunyangabu and Bundibugyo—specifically Kakhuuka Parish in Sindira Sub-county—as well as areas around Nyakasura School and Canon Apollo Core PTC in Fort Portal City, and parts of Kabarole District.

Meanwhile, in Rwenzori East, the attackers struck at Kasese Police Barracks and Rugendabara Police Station. Security officials said the same group was behind both waves of assaults.

“Several assailants were put out of action and many were arrested,” the police statement reads. “While some police officers sustained injuries during the encounter, there were no fatalities reported.”

Authorities said operations are ongoing to pursue and apprehend all those involved in the attacks. The police have pledged to release detailed operational figures once the situation is fully assessed.

Security in the Rwenzori sub-region has been heightened as joint forces continue their sweep to ensure calm and stability in the affected areas.
