Uganda’s Prime Minister, Robinah Nabbanja, is in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to participate in the 10th session of the Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development.
The forum, which will run from April 23rd to 25th, 2024, is organized by the UN Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) in collaboration with the African Union Commission, the African Development Bank Group, and various entities within the UN.
The theme for this year’s forum is “Reinforcing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and Agenda 2063 and eradicating poverty in times of multiple crises: the effective delivery of sustainable, resilient and innovative solutions.” This underscores the importance of addressing poverty and sustainability in the face of global challenges.
The event brings together a diverse array of participants, including Presidents, Heads of State and Government, Ministers, policymakers, experts, representatives from intergovernmental organizations, the private sector, civil society organizations, major groups, and international development partners. This inclusive gathering aims to foster collaboration and innovation in tackling pressing development issues across the African continent.
Prime Minister Nabbanja’s presence at the forum highlights Uganda’s commitment to sustainable development and poverty eradication. Her participation signifies Uganda’s active engagement in regional and international efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the African Union’s Agenda 2063.
During the forum, participants will engage in discussions, share best practices, and explore innovative solutions to promote sustainable development and resilience in the face of multiple crises. Key topics on the agenda include climate change adaptation, economic diversification, inclusive growth, healthcare access, education, and gender equality.
As the sessions unfold over the next few days, stakeholders will work towards crafting actionable strategies and partnerships to accelerate progress towards the SDGs and Agenda 2063. Prime Minister Nabbanja’s contributions to these discussions are expected to reflect Uganda’s priorities and perspectives, while also aligning with broader regional and global objectives for sustainable development.
