The new Uganda Chancery opened in the Democratic Republic of Congo marks the beginning of a new chapter in Uganda’s Diplomatic presence in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The ceremony was presided over by Hon. Norah Bigirwa Nyendwoha, the Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee in parliament on behalf of John Mulimba, the Minister of State for regional affairs.
In diplomacy, a chancery refers to the office or building where a diplomatic mission conducts its official business. It serves as the headquarters or administrative center for diplomats and staff representing a country in a foreign nation.
The chancery houses various offices, including those responsible for political, economic, consular, and administrative affairs. It’s where diplomats work on maintaining relations, negotiating agreements, handling consular services, and managing the day-to-day operations of the diplomatic mission.
According to government, the chancery provides a platform to enhance collaboration, deepen partnerships, and achieve meaningful outcomes that benefit both our nations. The new chancery is also a testimony to the warm and cordial bilateral relations between the two countries.
