The Appointments Committee of Parliament, chaired by Speaker Jacob Oboth Oboth, on Thursday vetted the newly appointed Minister of State for Internal Affairs, Hon. Witonze.
The vetting session was attended by Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa and other Members of Parliament serving on the committee.
According to parliament, the committee will now submit its report to President Yoweri Museveni, who nominated Witonze three days ago.
The vetting is a key constitutional step in the appointment process before the minister formally assumes office.
Witonze was nominated to fill the vacancy created after Dr. Lawrence Muganga failed to meet the constitutional requirement to renounce his dual citizenship prompting the president to consider Witonze.
