Otafiire, Ramaphosa Discuss Global Pan African Mov’t Summit

Uganda’s Minister of Internal Affairs, Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Kahinda Otafiire, held talks with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa during a high-level visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and advancing the Pan-African agenda.

In a statement shared on his official social media platforms, Minister Otafiire described Ramaphosa as “an old comrade” and revealed that their meeting focused on deepening cooperation between Uganda and South Africa across various sectors. The two leaders also exchanged views on the forthcoming Global Pan African Movement Conference, expected to bring together leaders, intellectuals, and activists from across the continent.

“We discussed issues of bilateral cooperation between Uganda and South Africa, the upcoming Global Pan African Movement Conference, and so on and so forth. It was great seeing you again, Khonani yange ya kale (my old friend),” Otafiire posted.

The meeting is part of efforts by both nations to work more closely on continental integration, security, trade, and shared historical values rooted in the liberation struggles of Africa.

Minister Otafiire and President Ramaphosa have a long-standing relationship dating back to the anti-apartheid and anti-colonial movements.
