President Yoweri Museveni revealed that Uganda is poised to host the 2025 Extraordinary Agricultural Summit in Kampala. This announcement followed a meeting with H.E. Ambassador Josefa Sacko from the African Union, who briefed the President on the Union’s desire to hold the summit in Uganda.
“We’re ready to showcase Africa’s agricultural potential!” President Museveni declared, emphasizing Uganda’s readiness to host the summit. He highlighted the country’s rich indigenous heritage in farming, which he said forms a strong foundation for modernization and commercialization.
The 2025 Extraordinary Agricultural Summit is expected to bring together leaders, policymakers, and agricultural experts from across the continent to discuss strategies for enhancing food security and promoting agricultural prosperity in Africa. Uganda’s selection as the host country underscores its pivotal role in the agricultural sector, both regionally and continentally.
President Museveni welcomed the summit as an opportunity for African nations to reconnect with their agricultural roots. “This summit allows Africans to reconnect with our roots and nurture our agriculture for food security and prosperity,” he stated, reflecting on the importance of agriculture in ensuring the continent’s self-sufficiency and economic growth.
With Uganda’s commitment to modernizing its agricultural practices while preserving its indigenous knowledge, the summit is anticipated to be a platform for showcasing innovations, sharing best practices, and fostering collaboration among African nations.
