The World Health Organization (WHO) has appointed Dr. Richard Kabanda as a member of its Global Strategic & Technical Advisory Group of Experts on Well-being and Health Promotion. This prestigious appointment is testament to Dr. Kabanda’s extensive expertise in public health and his commitment to advancing health promotion on a global scale.
In his new role, Dr. Kabanda will provide technical guidance to WHO in shaping global strategies and policies aimed at enhancing public health. He will be instrumental in advising the WHO on key indicators and intervention packages for well-being, as well as offering independent reviews and recommendations on critical public health issues.
Currently serving as the Commissioner for Health Promotion at Uganda’s Ministry of Health, Dr. Kabanda has been at the forefront of driving community-based health initiatives in the country. Additionally, he holds the position of Chair of the Africa CDC Community Health Technical Working Group, where he has played a pivotal role in strengthening community health systems across the continent.
His appointment comes at a time when global health challenges require innovative and inclusive strategies to improve well-being.
