Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago held talks with Ethiopia's ambassador to Uganda, H.E Etsegenet Yimenu Bezabih (C) at City Hall

In a move aimed at bolstering people-to-people relations between Uganda and Ethiopia, the latter’s ambassador to Uganda, Her Excellency Etsegenet Yimenu Bezabih, held a pivotal meeting with Kampala City’s Lord Mayor, Erias Lukwago.

The meeting took place at the Mayor’s office City Hall in Kampala, serving as a platform to explore avenues for enhancing people-to-people relations between the two nations.

According to an Ethiopian post on X, the discussion centered on fostering deeper connections at a grassroots level, emphasizing the importance of cultural exchanges, educational collaborations, and citizen engagement initiatives to cement the bond between Uganda and Ethiopia.

Ambassador Etsegenet expressed her enthusiasm for strengthening the bilateral relationship, stating.

Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing the significance of fostering connections beyond diplomatic corridors.

The discussions delved into potential collaborative projects in fields such as education, cultural exchange programs, and initiatives to promote tourism and trade between the two nations. Both parties expressed a shared commitment to exploring opportunities that would benefit citizens on both sides and contribute to the growth and prosperity of both countries.

Ambassador Etsegenet was accompanied by Robel Admassu, the Head of Political Affairs of the Embassy of Ethiopia in Kampala. It was also attended by Kampala Central Division mayor, Slam Uhuru.

The meeting between Ambassador Etsegenet Yimenuh Bezabih and Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago serves as a catalyst for deeper engagements and sets the stage for future collaborations aimed at fostering enduring bonds between Uganda and Ethiopia at a grassroots level.

This commitment to cultivating people-to-people relations is poised to lay the foundation for an even stronger partnership between the two nations.
