Uganda’s Minister of Energy and Mineral Development, Hon. Ruth Nankabirwa, officially handed over a construction license today to China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC). The license grants CNOOC the authorization to proceed with the construction of a state-of-the-art Natural Gas Conversion Facility, a groundbreaking project set to revolutionize the country’s energy landscape.
The facility, a 500bn cubic fit, is poised to be a game-changer in Uganda’s energy sector. Once operational, it will have the capacity to produce an impressive 20,000 tons of Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) annually, addressing the growing demand for clean and efficient energy sources.
The facility’s construction license comes after a thorough assessment of CNOOC’s plans, ensuring adherence to environmental regulations and safety standards. The Ugandan government, through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development, expressed confidence in CNOOC’s capabilities and commitment to delivering a facility that meets the highest industry standards.
CNOOC, a major player in the global energy sector, expressed gratitude for the trust placed in the company by the Ugandan government.
Construction of the facility is expected to create employment opportunities and stimulate economic growth in the region. Additionally, the increased production of LPG is anticipated to positively impact households and industries, providing a cleaner and more efficient energy alternative.
