Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations (SPA/SO), General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, concluded a successful official visit to South Africa where he held high-level talks with President Cyril Ramaphosa and South Africa’s top business leaders.
At the start of the month, the CDF travelled to South Africa where he delivered President Yoweri Museveni’s message to Ramaphosa.
During the visit, General Muhoozi announced that some of South Africa’s most prominent investors had pledged to inject billions of dollars into Uganda’s economy over the next few years. The planned investments are expected to target key sectors such as energy, infrastructure, mining, and ICT, promising a significant boost to Uganda’s economic transformation and job creation efforts.
“After meeting President Ramaphosa, I met the biggest businessmen in South Africa. They will invest billions of dollars into our economy in the next few years,” General Muhoozi stated.
He also revealed that discussions with President Ramaphosa included the prospect of visa-free entry for all Ugandans into South Africa, a move aimed at easing mobility and enhancing trade, tourism, and cultural exchange between the two countries.
“This was one of the topics I discussed with H.E. Cyril Ramaphosa. A solution is coming!” he assured.
