Uganda’s First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Hon. Janet Kataaha Museveni, held a high-level meeting with His Excellency Upendra Singh Rawat, the High Commissioner of India to Uganda, to review the progress of establishing a campus of the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) in Jinja and to strengthen collaboration in the area of education.
The meeting focused on the implementation milestones of the much-anticipated NFSU campus, a flagship India-Uganda bilateral initiative aimed at boosting Uganda’s capacity in forensic science and criminal justice. The First Lady emphasized the urgency of completing all necessary legal procedures to ensure that the university’s academic credentials gain global recognition.
Hon. Janet Museveni also commended the Government of India for its steadfast support towards Uganda’s human capital development, particularly through the provision of scholarships.

She highlighted the recent allocation of 32 fully funded Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) scholarships, which she said have significantly expanded educational opportunities for Ugandan students.
High Commissioner Rawat pledged India’s dedication to deepening cooperation in education, skills development, and science and technology. He expressed optimism about the timely completion of the NFSU project and reiterated India’s readiness to offer more scholarships and technical assistance.
