Fiona Nakku has officially declared her bid for the position of Workers Member of Parliament (Female) for the 2026–2031 term, running under the banner of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU).

Her campaign, launched under the theme “New Energy; Time is Now,” seeks to inspire renewed vigor and inclusivity among Uganda’s workforce. Nakku unveiled her official poster this week, marking the start of her mobilisation drive across the country.

A familiar name in youth and grassroots mobilisation circles, Nakku previously contested for the position of National Female Youth MP NRM flag bearer before withdrawing from the race. She has since maintained an active presence in political mobilisation, spearheading a separate nationwide campaign aimed at galvanising 13 million votes for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni ahead of the 2026 general elections.

Known for her dynamic leadership and strong organisational abilities, Nakku is positioning herself as a bridge between Uganda’s young professionals and the broader workers’ movement.

Her entry into the race is expected to energise the contest for the Workers MP (Female) slot, with many observers noting her growing influence within the PLU and her appeal among youthful voters.

As campaigns heat up toward 2026, Nakku’s message of “New Energy” appears to resonate with a generation eager for fresh voices in the labour representation space.
