Ethiopian Airlines has announced it is seeking clarification from Eritrea’s Civil Aviation Authority after the latter suspended flights to Asmara, effective September 30, 2024. The airline received the notice through a letter dated July 21, 2024, which did not disclose specific reasons for the suspension.
In an official statement, Ethiopian Airlines said, “Ethiopian Airlines has received a notice from the Eritrean Civil Aviation Authority through a letter dated 21 July 2024 indicating the suspension of all Ethiopian Airlines flights to Eritrea, effective September 30, 2024. The specific reasons for this suspension have not been disclosed to us.”
The airline is actively seeking clarification from Eritrean authorities to understand the underlying causes of the suspension. “Ethiopian Airlines is currently seeking clarification from the Eritrean Civil Aviation Authority and is committed to resolving any issues amicably and promptly,” the statement added.
