Cuba Bestows Posthumous Award upon Late Speaker Oulanyah

In a poignant ceremony held on the morning of February 7, Ugandan MP Honorable Andrew Oulanyah and his brother Harold Adiyo Oulanyah, received a posthumous decoration on behalf of their late father, Speaker of the Ugandan Parliament, Jacob Oulanyah. The decoration was awarded by the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba, recognizing the indelible contributions and legacy left by the esteemed Ugandan leader.

It was presented by Cuba’s ambassador to Uganda, H.E Tania Perez Xiques. Oulanyah died on 20 March 2022, in Seattle, USA.

The ceremony, marked by a mix of solemnity and reverence. The Cuban Council of State’s gesture underscores the enduring friendship between Cuba and Uganda and pays tribute to Speaker Jacob Oulanyah’s significant role in fostering diplomatic ties between the two nations.
