Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has met with Ethiopia Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed to discuss areas of cooperation between the two countries.
General Muhoozi who arrived in Ethiopia two days ago, was warmly received by Field Marshal Birhanu Jula, the Chief of General Staff of the Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF), at the Ethiopian Ministry of Defense Headquarters.
FM Jula was also part of Gen Muhoozi’s meeting with PM Abiy.
The visit is part the growing defense collaboration and historic ties between the two nations.
In a tweet after the meeting with Ethiopia’s army chief, General Muhoozi expressed gratitude for the warm reception and highlighted the deep cultural and historical ties between Uganda and Ethiopia.
“I thank my beloved brother, Field Marshal Birhanu Jula, for the invitation to visit my ancestral home Ethiopia. Uganda and Ethiopia are blood brothers who can never be separated,” he wrote.
This visit follows Field Marshal Birhanu Jula’s visit to Uganda in July, during which defense cooperation between the two nations was also at the forefront of discussions. The meetings have focused on strengthening bilateral ties, particularly in the defense sector, which both countries view as critical for regional stability and security.
General Muhoozi’s trip reinforces the shared commitment of Uganda and Ethiopia to work together in addressing regional security challenges, enhancing military cooperation, and deepening their longstanding relationship.
The visit further symbolizes Uganda and Ethiopia’s unity, built on shared values, mutual respect, and historical bonds. Both nations aim to foster sustainable partnerships that will benefit their defense sectors and contribute to regional peace.
