Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Senior Presidential Adviser for Special Operations, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, on Friday afternoon met Lisa Chesney, the United Kingdom’s High Commissioner to Uganda, to discuss strengthening military cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting was held at the Special Forces Command (SFC) Headquarters in Entebbe.

According to officials familiar with the engagement, the two leaders discussed a proposal for the deployment of UK military medical personnel to Uganda’s Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) National Referral Hospital.

The proposal, aimed at enhancing medical capacity and skills exchange, is currently under review by the UK government.

The discussions also explored potential British support to UPDF training institutions, focusing on capacity building and professional military education.

General Kainerugaba and High Commissioner Chesney pledged mutual respect and agreed to sustain high-level engagements to further strengthen defence and security cooperation between Uganda and the United Kingdom.

The meeting follows an earlier engagement between the CDF and the UK High Commissioner in October, highlighting the continued high-level dialogue and growing military partnership between Kampala and London.
