Security Raids Among Bukedea Residence

Published

A heavy security presence has reportedly been deployed at the Bukedea residence of outgoing Speaker of Parliament Anita Among as investigations into alleged corruption and illicit enrichment continue to intensify.

Sources in eastern Uganda say security operatives and patrol vehicles have been visibly stationed around the home, heightening tension in Bukedea district amid the widening national probe.

The latest development comes as investigators enter the sixth consecutive day of operations linked to Among and several Members of Parliament allegedly caught up in the expanding corruption investigations.

Security agencies have in recent days raided multiple residences linked to Among, sealed off parliamentary offices, confiscated electronic devices and vehicles, and reportedly imposed travel restrictions on several lawmakers.

The growing security deployment in Bukedea has further fueled speculation about the scale and direction of the ongoing investigations, which have already sent shockwaves through Uganda’s political establishment.

Authorities are yet to officially comment on the security presence at the residence or clarify whether the deployment is linked to ongoing evidence-gathering operations.

More details to follow.
