Museveni Woos Japanese Investors in Meeting with Foreign Vice-Minister Arfiya

Uganda’s President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Friday hosted Ms. Eri Arfiya, the Japanese Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, at State House Entebbe for bilateral discussions centered on deepening cooperation between Uganda and Japan.

The high-level meeting focused on strengthening economic ties through strategic investments in key sectors such as manufacturing and transport.

President Museveni pledged Uganda’s commitment to fostering an enabling environment for foreign investors, encouraging Japan to explore opportunities in value addition and industrial development.

“I encouraged our Japanese friends to invest more in Uganda’s manufacturing and transport sectors, which are vital for our economic transformation,” President Museveni stated after the meeting.

During the talks, President Museveni also welcomed Japan’s invitation to the upcoming Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD), describing it as a critical platform for advancing Africa–Japan partnerships in development.

The President expressed optimism about the growing cooperation between the two countries, emphasizing the importance of continued collaboration in projects that uplift both Uganda and Japan.

“Our focus remains on sustainable partnerships that add value, create jobs, and accelerate our industrialization agenda,” he said.
