President Yoweri Museveni (2nd L) interacts with a member of Peter Greenberg's delegation as Ms Diana Kyaremera Museveni looks on
Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni recently welcomed acclaimed Emmy Award-winning producer, Mr. Peter Greenberg, to the heart of Africa for an ambitious film project aimed at spotlighting the nation’s vibrant tourism industry.
The President, in a statement on social media, expressed his pleasure at the collaboration, emphasizing the unparalleled beauty and diversity that Uganda possesses.
“Uganda’s beauty is unmatched,” remarked President Museveni, drawing a parallel with Winston Churchill’s sentiments from as far back as 1906. The nation’s unique geographical features, attributed to its equatorial location and varying altitudes, create an environment that nurtures a rich diversity of flora and fauna, setting Uganda apart as a gem on the African continent.
The film project spearheaded by Mr. Peter Greenberg aims to showcase Uganda’s natural wonders, cultural heritage, and the warm hospitality of its people. President Museveni highlighted the importance of leveraging such opportunities to promote tourism and present Uganda as a must-visit destination for global travelers.
President Museveni’s meeting with Greenberg was attended by members of his delegation and Ms Diana Kyaremera Museveni (The president’s daughter).
“After almost a year of planning, I’m so excited to see this project finally come to life. @petergreenberg , Emmy award winning producer and travel editor for CBS News is in the country to film a documentary on Uganda’s tourism industry. The documentary “Hidden Uganda” is estimated to reach about 110 million viewers internationally when it airs later this year. Peter is accompanied by celebrated American director and writer @deborahmpratt. Thank you Mzee for supporting our tourism industry,” Ms Diana posted on instagram.
During their interaction, President Museveni took the opportunity to underscore the stability Uganda has achieved over the past three decades. He emphasized the nation’s abundant resources and capabilities, stating, “Truly, Uganda is a land where we have almost everything!” The President’s pride in Uganda’s stability and potential serves as a rallying call for both domestic and international audiences to explore the myriad opportunities the country has to offer.
The collaboration with Mr. Peter Greenberg is seen as a strategic move to harness the power of visual storytelling and modern media to attract tourists and investors alike. The film is expected to not only showcase Uganda’s natural wonders but also shed light on the nation’s economic growth, cultural richness, and the welcoming spirit of its people.
