Uganda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Odongo Jeje Abubakhar, paid a solemn visit to the Honorary Consulate of Namibia in Uganda to sign the condolence book in memory of the late former Namibian President, H.E. Sam Nujoma. The visit was a testament to the enduring ties between Uganda and Namibia, rooted in a shared history of struggle, resilience, and pursuit of African unity.

Hon. Odongo was warmly received by Namibia’s Honorary Consul in Uganda, Godfrey Kirumira, who accepted the tribute on behalf of the Namibian government and led the signing ceremony. Reflecting on Nujoma’s legacy, Hon. Odongo described him as a visionary leader whose dedication to Namibia’s independence and development continues to inspire African nations.

“Many may not know that President Nujoma came from humble beginnings, yet his determination led the Herero people and all Namibians to independence. His struggle, vision, and unwavering leadership remain a cornerstone of Namibia’s development,” Hon. Odongo stated.

He highlighted how Nujoma’s influence extended beyond his presidency, continuing to shape Namibia’s governance and inspire African leaders. The Minister also noted that both Uganda and Namibia remain committed to upholding African values on the global stage, with both nations among the 10 countries selected to review the UN system—a milestone in their diplomatic collaboration.
