IGP, Iran Envoy Discuss Enhanced Security Cooperation

H.E. Masid Saffar, the Ambassador of Iran to Uganda, paid a courtesy visit to the Police Headquarters in Naguru today. Ambassador Saffar was received by the Inspector General of Police, Abbas Byakagaba, in a meeting aimed at strengthening the bilateral relationship between the two countries and enhancing cooperation in various areas, including law enforcement and security.

The visit underscores the commitment of both nations to fostering stronger ties and exploring mutual interests. During the meeting, Ambassador Saffar and Inspector General Byakagaba engaged in discussions focused on potential areas of collaboration, particularly in law enforcement and security.

Although details of the meeting were not published, it is believed that the two explored opportunities for cooperation that will benefit both our countries.

Ambassador Saffar believes in building diplomatic engagements for the benefit of both countries.

Discussions on such meetings with an element of security collaboration centre on proposals for joint training programs, intelligence sharing, and the exchange of best practices in combating crime and ensuring public safety. Both parties expressed optimism about the outcomes of the meeting and the future of Uganda-Iran relations.

This visit marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts to deepen bilateral relations between Uganda and Iran. It also reflects the broader commitment of both nations to work together on critical issues that affect their citizens and contribute to regional stability.
