Police have confirmed the death of businessman Rajiv Ruparelia following a single fatal crash at the Busabala Flyover in the early hours of Saturday morning.
According to a press statement issued by the Uganda Police, the accident occurred at approximately 1:54 AM on May 3, 2025, near the traffic lights at the Busabala Flyover, located in Makindye-Ssabagabo, Wakiso District.
The crash involved a Nissan GTR, registration number UAT 638L, which was traveling from Kajjansi toward Munyonyo.
Preliminary findings suggest that the driver lost control of the vehicle after colliding with temporary pavements at the roundabout section of the flyover. The vehicle overturned and caught fire, resulting in the instant death of the driver.
Rajiv Ruparelia, 35, was a key member of the Ruparelia Group owned by his father Sudhir Ruparelia.
Police noted that while the exact cause of the crash has not been conclusively determined, investigations are ongoing. Authorities have pledged to provide further updates as more information becomes available.
